13 August 2009 Myles Junior Sports Star of the Year Award Nominations Now Open Are you a star junior athlete and have represented your sport at state, national or international levels? Then the City of Bunbury is calling for your nomination for the 2009 Myles Junior Sports Star of the Year Award. Created by Mr Ned Myles in 1966 the Myles Junior Sports Star of the Year Award is the premier sporting award for junior athletes in the City of Bunbury. Every year the winner of this award represents the outstanding junior athlete within Bunbury who not only demonstrates a high level of sporting ability but also recognises that athlete’s significant contribution through coaching, umpiring and general promotion of their chosen sport. The award is proudly supported by the Myles family with a significant contribution made to the winner and runner up every year by the Myles Family and presented by Barry Myles Junior. Nominations are now open for athletes under 18 years of age who are residing within the City of Bunbury or participating in a Bunbury-based sporting competition. Nominations will close on the 31st September 2009. Athletes must be nominated by their sporting club and nomination forms can be obtained by contacting the Mayor’s office on 9792 7021. Kind Regards Callan Hatchman Sports
Club Development Officer City of Bunbury 12 August 2009 Location of New Premier
Pitch It is proposed to expend
approximately $600,000 on the new pitch and the surrounds with
fencing included. It is normally very unusual that Council will
reject a Committee recommendation as this committee is made up of
the full Council, the only difference is that at a Committee
meeting the views of the proponents and opponents can be aired in
order to assist the Committee make a decision. Last night we had
the CCJSA, Bunbury United, South West Phoenix and Bunbury and
Districts Hockey address Council, all of the Football related
entities generally supported the concept and locality of the new
pitch only Hockey spoke against the Locality but again were
supportive of the new facility. It is envisaged that once this
recommendation is accepted by Council that works will commence
almost immediately, as such the new pitch should be ready for use
next season. 29 April 2009 PROPOSED NEW SPORTING COMPLEX FOR DALYELLUP As you may have heard, Cristal Global have applied to extend the licence on their Dalyellup site for a further three years. This extension will allow the site to be levelled in relation to the surrounding topography. This will then allow the land to be re-developed into a use approved by local and State authorities following community consultation. Cristal Global have proposed that the land be used for a multi-functional sporting complex for the Dalyellup community. A preliminary concept design can be found here. If the licence extension is not approved, the land will be rehabilitated back to coastal vegetation. If you would like more information on the current and proposed uses for Cristal Global’s Dalyellup site, a company representative will be available for discussion at the Dalyellup Community Centre at the following times:
Additional information can be found in this brochure. It would be a shame to lose an opportunity to obtain a high class sporting precinct such as the one proposed, so all club members and their families are encouraged to discuss any queries or concerns with Cristal Global and make an informed decision regarding the site, rather than rely solely on information provided by action groups and media reports. 28 April 2009 ATTENTION ALL FEMALE FOOTBALLERS!
